Matt Hempel is the owner and President of NextGen Professional Services, a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Company based in Guam, USA. He has 24 years of cross-functional, cross-industry experience/success leading, managing, growing, and influencing diverse business services organizations. Proven achievements/expertise in strategic and operational planning; sustainable enterprise information technology solutions; building and leading high performing teams; and marketing, selling, and delivering profitable, sustainable professional, technology and training products and services in large-scale, high profile program environments. Matt’s career is punctuated with experience as an entrepreneur, pilot, consultant, mentor and innovator.
Matt began his career as a pilot in the US Navy, served in Desert Storm, as a legislative fellow for both the House and the Senate, and as the training officer aboard the USS George Washington. He then conveyed his leadership, analytical and management skills to the Big 5 Management consulting world with BearingPoint (formerly KPMG Consulting). There, he worked extensively supporting C Level clients and enterprise programs across the federal government, including the Departments of Justice, State, Navy, Defense, Homeland Security, Health and Human Services, Veteran’s Affairs, Transportation Security Administration, Air Force and Army National Guard Bureau.
Most of Matt’s expertise is derived from program management, large scale systems integration and traditional management consulting. He well-versed in all aspects of Program Management, Balanced Scorecard, Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC) Methodologies, enterprise network and data center technologies, Smart Card Technologies, business process improvement, OMB 300/IT Capital Planning, Earned Value, leadership, Knowledge Management, Federal programming and budgeting process, requirements analysis, risk management, Enterprise Architecture (EA) definition, strategic planning, performance measurement, strategic communications, business development, government contracting and acquisition protocols.
Most recently, Matt has focused on business development and business modeling for successful information technology customers. In this role he facilitated integrated solutions across the IT spectrum from Continuity of Operations planning to network optimization and management. One focus area has been to support the successful deployment of mobile networks for deployed forces in low bandwidth, high latency environments through virtualization and network optimization strategies.
Matt also has extensive uniformed experience in the Navy Reserve serving first as a policy analyst and watch officer for the Chief of Naval Operations Navy Command Center. He also supported Commander, Navy Reserve Forces Command as an Operations Analyst and quality assurance officer, Commander 3rd Fleet Battle Watch Captain and as a desk officer for US European Command Policy and Plans Directorate.
He currently holds professional sales certifications for both NetApp and VMware, and holds two Masters Degrees in National Security Policy and Business Management.
